The only people in the photo I’ve been able to place names to are Mary Zesut (young girl on the far left), Frank and Anna Rurek Zesut (center) and William Zesut (back right). The rest are presumed to be from Anna Rurek’s family.

A High-Resolution version of this photo can be found in the Photo Archive.

Frank & Anna would go on to have two children; Edward and Irene. Both children would eventually marry and have children of their own. Irene is very passionate about Rzeszut family history and has been an invaluable resource to me.

Copies of CT marriage Licenses are open to the public and a copy of Frank and Anna’s can be ordered from the The City Of Hartford Vital Records Department. The order form for a copy can be reached here.

1921: Anna Zesut Marries Peter Spark.

    January 22, 2008

My Great Great Grandmother Anna Zesut became a widow in 1917 when her first husband Kasper died unexpectedly of pneumonia.

On March 1, 1921 she married a man named Peter Spark.

I found Anna and Peter’s marriage certificate at the Glastonbury Town Hall. The information appearing on it is as follows.

The certificate is signed by Justice Of The Peace William B. Gabni and indicates the marriage ceremony took place on March 1, 1921 in Glastonbury. The license was applied for on the same day.

I transcribed the information from their marriage certificate when I visited the Glastonbury Town Hall in the Fall of 2007. I plan on going back and purchasing a certified copy. Once I get the copy I’ll scan and post it here.

I have yet to do any significant research on Peter Spark. I do know he had a son from his first marriage and that he died in 1934. He is buried in St. Augustine’s cemetery in Glastonbury but I have been unable to locate a headstone.

On this certificate I learned that Anna’s parents were Ignatz Kopec and Mary Buroz (misspelled on the document). These would be my Great Great Great Grandparents. My Great Grandfather Anthony’s middle name was Ignatz so it was interesting to see where that name came from.

Surfaced! Anthony and Victoria Zesut’s Wedding Photo!

    January 10, 2008

I was very excited today to receive an email with a scan of my Great-Grandparents Wedding photo taken in 1916! The photograph comes from Anthony and Victoria’s granddaughter Michele (Dion) Mandell  and was scanned by her son Jonathan. I wasn’t sure a wedding photo existed and this is the first time myself and many other relatives have seen a photo of Anthony. I’ve also never seen a photo of Victoria Puscizna of this vintage. Really an amazing surprise today.  Anthony was the oldest son of Kasper and Anna and the brother of Julia (married name Pendrok), Joseph, Michael, Frank, William, and Mary(married name Kayross) Zesut. Many thanks to Michele and Jon for sharing this! 1916: Anthony Zesut Marries Victoria Puscizna

    January 3, 2008

On September 25, 1916 Kasper and Anna’s eldest son, my great-grandfather, married Victoria Puscizna. Victoria was a 19 year old immigrant from Dominikowice, Poland. More information regarding my great grandmother Victoria can be found on the page I’ve built here. Anthony was the oldest brother of Julia, Joseph, Michael, Frank, William, and Mary Zesut.

Rzeszut has been shortened to Zeszut on this document. No idea why it’s not Zesut. Additionally, Anthony is “Tony” on this document.

Anthony and Victoria would go on to have five daughters; Freda, Mary, Wanda, Sophie and Anna. All of their daughters but Mary would have children of their own.

I’ve never seen a photo of Anthony or a photo of Victoria when she was young. I’m curious if there were wedding photos taken and if so where they ended up.

Copies of CT marriage Licenses are open to the public and a copy of Anthony and Victoria’s can be ordered from the Glastonbury Town Hall. The order form for a copy can be reached through here….or just ask me for a copy.

1914: Julia Zesut Marries John Pendrok

    December 31, 2007

Kasper and Anna’s first child to get married was their eldest daughter Julia. Julia was the sister of Anthony (my great-grandfather), Joseph, Michael, Frank, William and Mary Zesut. Julia married John Pendrok on June 27, 1914. I have yet to get in touch with any descendants of Julia and John but hope to make contact soon. Julia was my grandmother Wanda Zesut Thibeault’s Aunt.

While researching Zesut records at the Glastonbury Town Hall I came across Julia’s marriage certificate. The information contained on it is as follows.

Wanda Zesut and Leonard Thibeault Wedding Pic.

    December 30, 2007

Figured I’d mix it up a little bit and stray from the chronological order I’ve been going in to post a picture of my grandparents on their wedding day, June 16, 1941. My grandmother was 21 years old when she got married. Wanda was the daughter of Anthony Zesut and Victoria Puscizna and the granddaughter of Kasper and Anna Rzeszut. Has anyone ever seen a group photo of the wedding party? I wonder if she looks more like the Zesut side of her heritage or more like the Puscizna side.
